S U M M E R

GREAT MORNING AND WELCOME TO THE WEEKEND. A long extended one for me (and probably for a lot people), as I'm off today through Monday, woo woo! I don't not like my job, but I love my free time. Getting excited for the weekend reminds me of an old boss from many moons ago, who got mad that our work team wrote "TGIF" on our think board. He actually came into our area in a bit of huff and erased it! It was too funny. Our little team had good laughs about that for a long time. He's a nice person, so I'm sure he was just having a bad day. My main plans include hiking and relaxing. Everything else around that will be off the cuff and regular life, such as: reading, watching shows, gardening, hanging with the fam, exercising, eating (preferably foodie foods), drinking (preferably red wine), cleaning I guess, maybe a little shopping etcetera and so on. How about you? Do you have big plans or are you going to wing it all?

For any non-Americans reading, this Monday is a national holiday where we honor military veterans who died while serving in the armed forces. It's a federal holiday here and everything is closed. We also consider it the unofficial start of summer. In the Northeast at least, it's big deal, as we've been waiting for this for a while now. All the beaches open, the city pool parks are back, the boats are unpacked and set back in the water and if we're lucky, the temperatures will feel like summer too. The last time I peeked, it was calling for rain, so in order to not jinx it, I haven't checked in a while, but I will do so right now  .  .  .  .  and it's changed; surprise, surprise. It says it'll be sunny everyday with the highs in the low 70's. We can work with that, in the direct line of the sun, it could feel like 80 degrees. On Monday, it's claiming the high of 77, which could feel like almost 90 in the rays. I know, I'm stretching it all out. Overall, it looks like it's going to be a nice weather weekend . . . Knock on wood!

While the northern hemisphere doesn't reach its closest point to the sun until June 21st at 7:57 a.m. or the Summer Solstice, we've decided summer starts NOW. I have baby butterflies in my stomach with anticipation of the new season. Some call it the best season, although this is very arguable, especially in New York, as Fall has its own special vibe here that comes alive, as nature goes into hibernation. I'm getting way ahead of myself. I don't want to think of September and fly like a bird in the wind right over this huge chunk of fabulous time that's here. I'm tired of thinking ahead. At work for example, I'm already deep into planning the first half of 2024, when it finally does come, it won't feel new, but I'll be ready for it god damn! Ugh, I'll go ahead and leave all of that for Tuesday and right now I need to hit the re-wind button on my brain ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ okay, I'm back here again, to Friday, May 26, 2023 / 8:19 a.m. and back to my original thought...summer!

Living day-to-day with little clothing is nice, easing into a lounge chair with a good book is relaxing, sipping a cold pina colada while listening to a custom play list is soul serving, swimming or playing in water under our hot star is heavenly and to me there's nothing better than chiillin' in a hammock and falling asleep to . . .

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all the Americans!

xoxo
