Valentine's Day is near, I can smell the love in the air. This is a time couples start scrambling to find a perfect gift. I can't speak for the men, but for the women, I can't think of one out there who wouldn't adore a spa treatment and / or being taken out for a nice dinner. I'm always a sucker for flowers, I know it's acliché, but it works on me. It's not about presents though, what women really want, is to be told they're loved and appreciated. It's the simple things that make us smile; while you're at it, feel free to take them into the bedroom and show them your love.
Love happens in so many ways though, it's not just about what's going on between a man and a woman. It can happen between a woman and a woman or a man and a man. Recently, at a dinner party, one of the guests and I were having a conversation and it turned out he was in a three-way relationship, two men and one woman. He said they'd been together for a while and were perfectly happy, he even showed me photos of the, triple (?), hanging out in Times Square. Personally, I don't think I'd be up for it, not because of the non-traditional part of it, I don't care about that, but because it would be too many people to interact with (read: introvert).
If you're a hopeless romantic like myself, then you're probably always on the look out for your love to be solid. Sometimes it's not, for one reason or another (been there), but everyone deserves a sacred kind of love. If you're a single, it's inevitable you'll have someone again, I've been down that road too. The red hot charge of love in a relationship rules though, with intimacy at the forefront. If that's not your situation, I'm speaking from experience here once again, try gluing the pieces back together and see if they fit. If you have no issues in this area, congratulations, you possess the key that holds a good relationship together.
There are other kinds of love to celebrate this weekend too. There's the love between an owner and their pet, a mama and her chillens, a papa and his kiddies, the love of a passion or an interest, or of just simply...life.
Happy Valentine's... however you choose to celebrate :o
