Pretty, Peaceful Snowflake

Great morning to you. Friday is here and what a beautiful day it is. This week winter set right in in the Northeast. We had some snow, below freezing temps and chilling winds. The first cold snap of the season blew in, leaving behind temps as high as 19 degrees for the day.

The Holidays are behind us now and most of the decorations have been put away. At my home base, all that are left are dark red poinsettias reminding me of what was. Welcome to hibernation month. You can see this in New York especially, as the usually neurotic, aggressive, fast-talking city folk are much more calm. The gyms are packed with hopefuls fulfilling their New Year's resolutions and the bar and restaurants slow down, as people would rather stay in.

I like winter, I don't love it, but I like it. The pretty, peaceful snowflake falling for so long from far up in the sky and the crisp, cold refreshing air swallowing us whole and allowing us to see our breath. I'm used to it now, it took a few years of living up north to understand when it starts to get cold, it will get colder and colder. Down south, that doesn't happen. A cold spell lasts for a day or two maximum and then it's back to barbecues and bikinis.

And now if you'll excuse me, I need to go to my window, as we have what I believe is the third snow of the season starting right now...

Keep on snowing.
