Sunday Spirituality & Dirty Stay Outs
Today is many things in the world, a day of rest, the Oscars and unfortunately a day of uncertainty for the people in the Ukraine.
In Rome, Sunday is a very serious day for spirituality. It would be rare to see a local on the street shopping at 9 a.m. In fact, they think it's rude to ignore God on a Sunday, at least that is what a Roman coffee shop owner told me, when I was clued out enough to show up at that "ungodly hour" on a Sunday.
Back in New York City, between 6 a.m and 8 a.m. on a Sunday, the only people on the street are the "dirty stay outs." They are so entertaining though, the way they shield themselves from the sun with smeared mascara on their face and dis-shovelled clothes -- they're the best. Come 8:30 a.m., the streets begin to flood once again with regular people, you would hardly even notice it's a Sunday.
If you're spiritual, today is our day to reflect. It doesn't matter what religion you are, there is one common denominator -- we believe in a higher power. I don't do the "my religion is better than your religion" game because that is obviously ridiculous. Whatever you believe your God to be, today is the day to take an hour (parents reading this are laughing at that time frame) and be spiritual.
How will you spend your Sunday?
