The Supreme Macaroni Company

Rise and shine at 7:30 am, 23 degrees in New York. This cold weather makes me want to cuddle on the couch and read all day. I'm currently reading, The Supreme Macaroni Company, by Adriana Trigiani (a New York Times bestselling author) and am almost finished and ready to look for my next read. Can anyone recommend a good book please? I'm looking for a serious page-turner -- who isn't though?!

The Supreme Macaroni Company is a nice, easy read about a large Italian family and a handed-down shoe business, based in Greenwich Village. The shoe company, owned by Valentine Roncalli, has relied on leather produced by Vechiarelli & Son in Tuscany, owned by Gianluca Vechiarelli. So far in the book, Valentine and Gianluca have fallen in love and were married.

Gianluca is older than Valentine by eighteen years, has a grown daughter who is pregnant and this is his second marriage. Valentine is in her late thirties, this is her first marriage and she is now a new step mom and soon-to-be step grandmother. Her perceptions of marriage as "happily ever after," are starting to become undone as reality is already setting in for the couple. The book should start to become more interesting with the development of Gianluca's character as he is supposed to have a complex past, with a secret of some sort.

Has anyone else read this book or the author's other book The Shoemaker's Wife? If you have a good book you'd like to recommend, please do.
